Social Media Etiquette Project

In 2017, iPhone users started noticing their older devices slowing down after their software updates, IOS.
Which led Apple to not say anything about the situation until 13 months later.
They publicly apologize for “unexpected shutdown” that should not have been acceptable.
They did not clarify that it was their doing or say it was Apple's fault. Instead, Apple owners, such as Tim Cook got a temporary solution to replace defective batteries at a
reduced price.
Social Media Etiquette after reviewing the material, it means using good judgement, respect,
and is responsible when posting and interacting online. It includes being able to be honest,
thinking before you speak, respect others opinions, and being understanding.
Apple issued an apology acknowledging their lack of communication.
Apple pledged to reduce the $79 charge for battery replacement services for $29 for 11 months.
Added a battery health feature in iOS so users can monitor and manage battery performances.
Great example. Apple should have replaced the batteries free of charge instead of a reduced cost. I actually joined a class action lawsuit and recently got a check years later due to this issue.
ReplyDeleteI do find Apple updates a pain sometimes especially when it takes a while to finish. It is truly unfair to Apple users who had to wait for so long just to hear a notice from the company. I agree with what you said that Apple should have interacted with their user about the battery issue. If they’d stay active and tested out the update before releasing the update would’ve prevented any problems with Apple users.
ReplyDeleteI knew they were definitely doing this, and I’m glad they admitted it. I also didn’t realize that the reason why we have a battery health option was because of this, which I frequently utilize. I think it’s funny that they reduced the battery replacement charge, but only for 11 months. It should have definitely been the lower price for all of the phones affected at any time. They sold a faulty product and made false claims.
ReplyDeleteI learned something new from this example! I honestly had no idea this was happened and therefore we have the battery health option now. Waiting to make a statement 13 months later is not acceptable and I am glad Jessica mentioned that class action lawsuit was made against Apple. Lawsuits should be normalized with these big companies that believe they can get away with issues like that.
ReplyDeleteI found it interesting how social media pressure likely played a big role in pushing them to respond and offer a solution. It’s a clear example of why companies need to practice better communication and accountability online.
ReplyDeleteYou explained the situation clearly and showed how important honesty and communication are for companies on social media
ReplyDeleteI remember this and my phone died so fast. I actually had insurance on it so I never got charged but they should have replaced it free of charge.
